What role does reputation play in our lives?
Reputation is one of the social markers.
It can be either positive or negative in color. Having earned a certain reputation, it can sometimes be difficult to get rid of its consequences and change the opinion of others about themselves. For example, it is very difficult for a person with a reputation for irresponsibility, laziness, and non-commitment to find a new job. Few people will want to contact such an employee and give him a second chance. Sometimes a certain reputation is formed for a person of a certain activity. For example, a rock musician is insane, values his freedom, and lives "to the fullest." An office worker who shows himself to be a responsible and executive person is a family man, without bad habits, who prefers a relaxing family vacation. Now imagine a calm, responsible and executive employee and a crazy rock musician all rolled into one. This is quite difficult, since some types of reputations are practically incompatible with each other. A reputation is made up of certain actions of a person and his relationships with other people.
For example, the reputation of scientists develops in a rather specific way. It is directly influenced by their relationships with colleagues. If colleagues recognize a scientist as a luminary of knowledge, then so it is. Much less important, for example, is his relationship with his students and even the relevance of his books. It's amazing that a man who everyone considers a brilliant scientist can have a reputation as a drunkard and a bad family man, but this does not doubt his abilities as a scientist. But for the reputation of a good teacher, the moral aspects of his life are very important, because he not only delivers the material, but also educates and instills the right values to the younger generation. It will be very difficult for a teacher who has had problems with addictions in the past to get a job at an elite school and gain the trust of parents with such a background. However, if he wants to teach and help those who are in a rehabilitation center (difficult youth), the past in which he was able to cope with addictions will only be a plus. Reputation is our capital.
Working on it is like building a business. First you work for him, and then he works for you. Having a reputation as a reliable person, a professional, a responsible specialist, a deep and interesting personality, worthy projects, profitable offers, and valuable acquaintances will be attracted to you. A decent reputation allows you not to prove what you are capable of. She speaks for you, that you are a valuable shot. By creating a good name for ourselves, we contribute to all areas of our lives.
Times can change, there are crises and various external circumstances that we cannot respond to, we can lose our income, but our good reputation remains with us always, helping to overcome any crises! Our trusted reputation helps us maintain our resources at a high level.
